An automatic mahjong table Malaysia families buy does the shuffling and wall-building for you. So each round starts faster, and nobody has to wash tiles by hand. This guide explains how these tables work, what types you can buy and what to check first. It also lists real prices, all dated October 2026.
If you only need a plain table, skip to the section on manual tables. For tiles, see our guide to buying a mahjong set in Malaysia. For sellers, see our mahjong shop Malaysia guide.
How automatic tables work
An automatic table uses two sets of tiles with different-coloured backs. At the end of a round, the used tiles drop into the table. Then the other set, already stacked inside, rises as the new wall. Meanwhile, the table shuffles the first set and stacks it for the next round.
Tables shuffle in different ways. Some designs use magnets inside the tiles. Others use arms driven by a motor. Either way, the tiles must suit the machine. Japanese Wikipedia notes that tables need tiles with built-in magnets made for that table, and that other tiles can cause faults.

The idea is older than many people think. The first automatic table, the "Paisetter", was developed in 1976. Towa Manufacturing then released it in Japan in 1977. You can read more in the Japanese Wikipedia article on automatic mahjong tables.
Types of automatic table
Every automatic mahjong table Malaysia sellers list does the same core job. However, the frames differ a lot. Marketplace listings often use words such as "folding", "silent", "dual-purpose" and "heating coaster".
Foldable tables
Many tables fold for storage. For example, Lucky Mahjong Resources sells its models on foldable stands with wheels. Gamesroom's Fanghe table has folding legs with four wheels. So if you search for a foldable mahjong table Malaysia shops stock, you will find plenty of choice.
Dining-convertible tables
Some tables turn into a dining table with a flat top. Gamesroom's Fanghe "Rotor Coaster" does this, and so does a Ruiteng model on Lazada. Larger "sparrow card dining table" models also appear on Shopee. These suit homes with no space for a games table.
Premium machines
At the top end, a premium automatic mahjong table Malaysia sellers list adds extras. These include a "silent" mode, dual motors, USB charging and heated coasters. So ask the seller what each extra does, and whether the warranty covers it.

Automatic mahjong table Malaysia buying checklist
Use this list before you pay. Where we could not confirm a detail from a seller's page, the advice is simply to ask the seller.
1. A 3-player mode
Many Malaysians play the 3-player game, so check for a 3-player setting first. Lucky Mahjong Resources lists 3- and 4-player settings on all its models. Gamesroom's Fanghe comes with tile sets for 3 and 4 players. Even so, ask the seller which tiles the 3-player mode uses, and ask for a demo if you can.
2. The tiles and their size
Most tables come with two tile sets. Check how many tiles each set has. For example, Enghong's "Malaysia Spec" table uses 144 tiles with no animal tiles. US listings say tables use 40mm, 42mm or 44mm magnetic tiles, and each size fits only its own table style. So ask the seller where you can buy spare tiles later.
3. Power rating
None of the Malaysian retailer pages we checked publish power, weight or exact size. So ask the seller for these. Also, US-market tables are listed as 110V. If you buy a grey import, check the rating plate before you plug it in.
4. Warranty and servicing
Warranties differ for each automatic mahjong table Malaysia shops sell. Lucky Mahjong Resources gives two years on the motor and mechanical parts. By contrast, a Singapore seller of reconditioned tables gives six months. Lucky also offers repairs and on-site servicing. Ask who will service your table, and how fast, before you buy.
5. Delivery, including East Malaysia
Not every automatic mahjong table Malaysia sellers list ships everywhere. Lucky Mahjong Resources delivers free in the Klang Valley. Enghong, a Sabah store, ships its table in four or five boxes. Gamesroom listed its Fanghe table as a pre-order of three to four weeks when we checked. For delivery to Sabah or Sarawak from elsewhere, ask the seller about cost, time and set-up.
Manual and foldable mahjong tables
A manual table costs far less than an auto table. You shuffle by hand, but you still get a flat, square top and often drawers. These are the mahjong table Malaysia prices we found on shop websites in October 2026.
| Table | Shop | Size | Price (RM) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3V foldable square table, 4 drawers | KT Ware, Selangor | 85.5 × 85.5 × 78 cm | 183.88 |
| EV MJ802NM foldable table with drawer | Orange2You, Selangor | 90 × 90 × 76 cm | 215 |
| Foldable mahjong tables | Tekkashop, KL | Varies by model | 285.71–411.43 |
| Foldable square table, 4 drawers | Erica Furniture, Johor Bahru | Not listed here | 299 |
| Solid oak game and dining table | Urban Edge, KL | 104 × 104 × 75 cm | 14,800 |
So the mahjong table price for a basic folding table sits between about RM180 and RM410. Single Shopee and Lazada listings showed RM229 to RM406.20, plus one dual-use table at RM178.20 to RM509.30. The designer oak table is the clear outlier. Its top is double-sided, so it works as a dining table too.
Mahjong table size
The tables above have square tops from 85.5cm to 104cm wide. Their heights run from 75cm to 78cm. Before you buy, measure your room. Leave space for four chairs too. For auto tables, ask the seller for the size, because the Malaysian pages we checked did not list it.
Safety and care
Any automatic mahjong table Malaysia homes use has a motor and wiring, so treat it like any other appliance. There were two fires linked to electric mahjong tables in Singapore in 2026. We found no verified report of a similar fire in Malaysia.
- Ang Mo Kio, 22 September 2026. A fire in an HDB flat was suspected to have started in an automatic table. Two residents went to hospital for smoke inhalation. The owner said the table was not plugged in, and the cause is under investigation.
- Tampines, 8 August 2026. An electric table caught fire in a flat. An 86-year-old man went to hospital and was later discharged. Neighbours put out the fire with buckets of water. The cause is under investigation.
In Hong Kong in September 2025, a viral video showed an electric table smoking and catching fire. It had run for about 72 hours without a break during a typhoon. After that, a Hong Kong tech site shared these safety tips for automatic mahjong tables:
- Rest the table every 12 hours.
- Wipe it weekly, clean the slots monthly and oil the moving parts every three months.
- Keep drinks, food and lighters away from the motor area.
- In a fire, cut the power first. Then use a dry-powder or CO2 extinguisher, not water, on live equipment.
General electrical sense helps too. Switch off and unplug the table after play. Do not overload an extension socket. Also, stop using the table if you see a damaged cord, smell burning or hear unusual noises, and call the seller for a repair.
